With Dustin Poirier dusting himself off after that brutal loss to Charles Oliveira, his former teammate Colby Covington wants a piece of “El Diamante”. He has long demanded that Poirier move up to welterweight for a fight, and now he’s put Poirier’s family firmly in the verbal firing line.
Covington, in an interview with The Schmo, absolutely savaged Poirier’s family, taking a leaf out of Conor McGregor’s book and setting it on fire.

“I’m picking on a guy that said it’s ‘on sight’ in the media. He said when I see Colby, it’s ‘on sight.’ I wanna keep these guys held accountable for their street cred. They’re talking all this s*** in the media but when it’s time to do business and get in the cage and actually fight, they’re nowhere to be found.
So Dustin, you’re a f***ing coward, your wife is a hoe and she has fake t**s on her chest, and you’re a piece of s*** father.”
Colby reiterated his long-standing criticism of Poirier, which is that although they naturally weigh about the same, Dustin cuts a huge amount of weight in order to compete at lightweight. Colby fights at 170 pounds, while Poirier competes these days at 155, and has previously fought as low as 145.
“It’s so personal, this isn’t about the rankings. He’s number one at lightweight, I’m number one at welterweight, but to be honest Schmo, we weigh the exact same weight.
He probably weighs five or 10 pounds more than me. We used to step on the scale every day and Dustin was like 185, 190. I’m about 182, 185 max. It’s not like I’m picking on a guy in a different weight class.”
Colby Covington accurately predicted that Poirier would lose out to Oliveira in the Octagon in a pre-fight Instagram post. Laced with his signature barbs, Covington promised that Poirier would be out-grappled by Oliveira, which was precisely what happened.
