One of the best storylines during this past year of WWE came with Cameron Grimes, LA Knight, and the legendary Ted DiBiase. It would start with DiBiase constantly one upping Grimes as he came into some great wealth, and took many twists and turns along the way. In the end, both Knight & Grimes added themselves to the legacy of the Million Dollar Championship. However the most shocking moment came when Knight would beat down the 67 year old.
Ted DiBiase Did Things His Own Way
Just two days after LA Knight defeated Cameron Grimes in a Ladder Match to claim the Million Dollar championship, he’d turn on his then ally of Ted DiBiase. While there were measures put in place to protect him, he wasn’t taking any of them and took the beating head-on, featuring a big bump. Now, while speaking with Fightful.com, DiBiase would explain his thoughts on that night and the attack.
“It’d been a long time and they didn’t want me to do that. The two bodyguards so-to-speak guarding the belt, they said, ‘You can fall back into their arms and they’ll catch you.’ I said, ‘Nuh-uh. I’m gonna do what I’ve done all my life, probably twenty to thirty times a night. The ring is a very good ring, I’m just gonna take the bump.’ But, I made sure I did it. I put everything I had into it. It’s kind of like the old man going, ‘I’m gonna show these old whippersnappers how you do it.’”
A Touch Which Made This Angle Better Than It Should Have Been
It’s hard to deny this didn’t add to the angle, which would go on for another two months – with DiBiase nearly ending up as the butler of LA Knight. In the end, Grimes would win the Million Dollar Championship, before handing the belt back to DiBiase for it to go back into retirement.
DiBiase has since left NXT TV, Knight would go on to be in the WarGames match with Team Black & Gold, and Grimes has won a feud against Duke Hudson. Did you enjoy this feud between Knight & Grimes? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
