Last year brought a lot of success for Cameron Grimes. He was able to become the Million Dollar Champion, and one of the biggest stars in NXT. His latest triumph came as he defeated Duke Hudson in a series of matches and poker games. Now in NXT 2.0, Grimes is ready to finally start chasing gold. That will require wins, and a lot of them – so he will start tonight!
Cameron Grimes Takes His First Win Of 2022
Damon Kemp would be his opponent tonight, who is actually the brother of Gable Steveson – currently signed to Monday Night RAW, but yet to make his debut. Grimes shot for a single leg and was blocked and taken down by Kemp. Kemp would grab control of the leg before Grimes rolled him up for a one count. Malcolm Bivens would hit ringside, as Grimes would take some heavy strikes.
Kemp would catch Grimes with a suplex before applying a sleeper hold. Grimes tossed him off before some running forearm strikes and a running dropkick in the corner. The crossbody from the top rope landed, and Cave In ended this one with ease. It’s unclear who Bivens was scouting, but if it’s Kemp? That was not a good showing.
Malik Blade & Edris Enofe Earn Their Way Into The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is coming once again. Joe Gacy & Harland have a chance to enter the ranks as they take on the up and coming duo of Edris Enofe & Malik Blade. A Play-In match, the winners will join the field of eight – and perhaps start their path to the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Enofe & Blade were keen on shocking the world, and getting on the winning side of a match against Harland will be a shock. Gacy would start with Enofe, locking up with Gacy being shoved off. A shoulder tackle would rock Enofe before a sambo suplex for a one count. Enofe struggled to keep Gacy away from a tag, and was able to get the match into his corner.
Blade hit a sky high dropkick before an armdrag. Gacy would be caught with a two on one attack, before Harland got a tag. Blade was mauled into the corner and a knee to the back of the head would follow. Enofe was nailed with a lariat and chucked into the ring post – before Harland forced a DQ by ignoring the five count with his attack on Blade. Blade & Enofe have advanced to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Tag Classic.
