It’s safe to say Bellator’s middleweight champion, Gegard Mousasi, isn’t a fan of Conor McGregor. The Irishman’s relentless self-promotion earned Mousasi’s ire way back in 2016, when Mousasi told The MMA Hour that he’d had serious Twitter beef with McGregor.
“That ginger-headed f*ck is retarded. In the interview I mentioned, they were talking about respect or whatever, and then he texted me on Twitter. He messaged me, and I said, ‘what’re you going to do with your 50kg?’
Gegard Mousasi to “Retarded” McGregor: “you’re a ginger headed f**k”
And then he was, I don’t know, he was philosophical or whatever the f*ck he was writing, he was like, ‘a knife is lighter than a pound, it can cut from ear-to-ear,’ whatever the f*ck he was writing.
That guy is a bum. He’s a 50kg guy, what the f*ck is he going to do? I bet if he’s face-to-face, he’s not going to say that. But you know, Twitter gives some people courage.
I don’t know what he was mentioning with the knife. I don’t have it with me now, but he put a lot of thought into his message. The guy has a lot of time, I don’t know. I said ‘say it to my face,’ but I bet he’s not going to do that.”
Of course, McGregor is far from fifty kilos these days. According to his coach John Kavanagh, McGregor is far closer to Mousasi’s own middleweight weight limit than the diminutive 145 pounds Conor fought at when he was a featherweight.
More recently, in yet another episode of The MMA Hour, Mousasi clarified the ongoing beef. Apparently, beefing with The Notorious cost Gegard Mousasi a fan. The fan in question took exception to Gegard’s insult for McGregor’s hair color. This particular ginger, it seems, was sensitive to more than just sunlight.
“The idiot sent me a private message, he actually sent it to my manager because I don’t do Twitter. But, that was it, I said my manager to write something back. He’s a moron.
He said don’t bring my name in your mouth and I said he is a ginger-headed f**k and some ginger guy wrote to me I insulted gingers and he’s not my fan anymore, I’m like what the f**k.”
Mousasi is set to defend his Bellator middleweight title against Austin Vanderford this weekend at Bellator 275. Is Gegard Mousasi right about Conor McGregor? Let us know in the comments.
