All good things much come to an end, and one of those is Mathew Rehwoldt’s in ring career after 2022. At least, according to a recent tweet and twitch status.
It didn’t feel right that the Drama King would make the announcement in such a simple way, but it’s fitting in some aspects.
Rehwoldt’s always been an interesting character in the ring and while the announcement seemed downplayed, the platforms also give him center stage so bravo to him for using them.
2022 is likely my last year as an in ring competitor.
Talking about it now live on Twitch.

Future as a commentator
If Rehwoldt is really hanging up his wrestling boots, then he’s definitely got a place somewhere as a color commentator.
The last few weeks Impact Wrestling has used a variety of their wrestlers in the role across from Tom Hannifan following Honor No More putting D’Lo Brown through the announce table.
Redwoldt stepped in a couple of weeks ago and he’s been nothing short of awesome as he gives great insight while playing his Drama King heel persona perfectly.
In many ways, he reminds us of Jesse Ventura as he lays it all out there in a quick witted manner that’s fun and engaging.
The chemistry between him and Hannifan is maxed out and, as much as we love D’Lo, we hope he’s found a new home in that chair.
Even if he moves on from Impact, Rehwoldt’s talent will take him anywhere and help him fulfill his goals.

To that end, he also announced that he’s going to be available for bookings and wants to make the most out of 2022.
Two of his dreams is to take part in a ladder match and go through a table.
While those are definitely fan favorites, we’re curious how and when it’ll happen for him. We don’t see him ending his run without achieving both of those and Impact’s not afraid to have either match on their weekly shows, much less at a pay-per-view.
To that end, we feel confident he’ll go out in a blaze of glory he and his career deserve. With any luck, it could be at the hands of Sami Callihan when he comes back.
It’s easy to envision them getting into a war of words and things escalating from there. But there are plenty of possibilities, especially with Honor No More lurking around.
Who knows, this could be his lucky week for the table part.
