If you thought Conor McGregor’s recent bulk-up looked a little suspicious, you aren’t alone. McGregor, who once claimed that 145-pound UFC featherweight championship, has spent time in the gym bulking up since breaking his leg fighting Dustin Poirier last July.
His new 190-pound frame left some doubting the legality of his training regime, leading USADA to test McGregor for PEDs no fewer than four times in the weeks following the social media reveal of his new frame.

Joe Rogan, controversial podcast host and UFC commentator, joked that McGregor’s newfound bulk was a little suspicious.
“That’s him now, super jacked. USADA is going to take a visit to him real soon. It’s a weird picture. He’s definitely jacked but it looks to me he’s in the middle of lifting.
If you see a guy’s body in the middle of lifting, it’s a little deceptive. When you lift weights as you do it, like those bodybuilders that go on stage, they all get pumped. But he looks great.”
Although 190 pounds is a far cry from McGregor’s championship weights of 145 and 155, his head coach John Kavanagh has no doubt that Conor can return to fighting shape when the time comes.
“I don’t think it will be all that difficult, to be honest. He has made some pretty dramatic weight cuts in the past. 155 lbs seems to suit his frame, at the moment yeah light-heavyweight he is more suited towards but by the summertime when he is ready to return, the weight will be back down again.
The physical stage of recovery is pretty much complete now, you have seen your posts himself. He has been enjoying himself over Christmas but he is ready to get back to that serious side of training and get ready for another contest.”
If Conor is aiming to fight once more at lightweight – a division in which he has only one win in four fights, albeit over then-champion Eddie Alvarez – he may well be in line for another title shot. Chael Sonnen, on his YouTube channel, pointed out that a McGregor title charge may well be on the cards once more.
“If we have Poirier/Diaz to look forward to, and I’m leaning in the direction that we do, you’ve just removed two meaningful players from the board. Then you do start to get a good look at who’s left and who makes the most sense.
All of a sudden, Conor McGregor coming right into a world title fight against either Gaethje or Oliveira, it’s not as far out of an idea as perhaps it appeared the first time we heard it three months ago.” Let us know what you think about massive McGregor in the comments.
