Last week, Kay Lee Ray put Mandy Rose through hell. After Mandy Rose ducked KLR for weeks and refused to give her a title shot, KLR took matters into her own hands. She kidnapped the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, before stalking and tormenting Rose for the rest of the night. At the end of the show, she got the match she wanted – and tonight KLR has a chance to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Mandy Rose Holds Her Own Against Kay Lee Ray
Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta would attack Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne as they were accompanying Mandy Rose to the ring – leaving her all alone for perhaps her toughest match yet in NXT. Rose ran in right away with a bicycle knee strike, but KLR side stepped and laid in some heavy chops. KLR Bomb was escaped by Rose, who jumped onto KLR with a Thesz Press.
Rose would take a tornado DDT for a two count, before a heavy lariat. This was a breakneck pace, and KLR went to the top rope for that Swanton Bomb – but Rose slipped out of the ring. KLR readjusted and hit a suicide dive to the floor, crushing Rose on the way down. Back into the ring, Rose would dodge a lariat and whip KLR head first into the corner.
The spinebuster would get a two count for Rose, before a waist lock was applied. Rose almost applied a Dragon Sleeper as well, but KLR instead bent back into a pinfall attempt. Cobra Twist was applied by Rose, who sprinkled in some elbow strikes to add extra pressure. KLR would slip out and nail some lariats, before the running dropkick.
Help Is On The Way
Rose would end up in the Koji Clutch, but KLR had to let the hold go after a pinfall was applied. KLR Bomb was blocked into a Yoshi-tonic, but Rose only got a two count.A superkick landed to the face of the champion, but Rose kicked out at two.
Toxic Attraction would find their way back to the ring, and this interference allowed Rose to hit the running knee and remain champion. Following the match, Io Shirai would make the save – seemingly making her choice of partner for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
