Sean Strickland might be fighting Jack Hermansson this weekend, but he’s having more fun in a feud with Kevin Holland. Strickland recently revealed the root cause of his rivalry with Holland via Twitter, and it’s every bit as bizarre and violent as you’d expect from the self-proclaimed psychopath.
“I think I told him I could rape him in prison one day and it bothered him. If we were in a jail cell together, if I wanted to, I could take that ass.”
Sean Strickland on Kevin Holland: “I Could Rape Him in Prison!”
Kevin Holland, predictably, didn’t take kindly to that. “He started talking shit to me on Instagram. I see him at the PI the other day and he’s popped out his f*cking chest wanting to fight me. I told him we can’t fight here, Edgar wouldn’t allow it, we can go out to the parking lot right now.”
Strickland elaborated on the clash at the recently UFC Vegas 47 pre-fight media day. Strickland even had some new-age emotional advice for Kevin Holland, a strange about-face for the man who once said he wanted to commit murder in the Octagon.
“The thing about Kevin Holland, he doesn’t know how to embrace his feelings. He doesn’t know how to feel. He’s scared of his feelings. So like Kevin Holland’s one of these guys, he sees me and he’s scared of me. It’s fair, he’s a very tall, scary Black man.
A part of him scares me, but I can look at him and say, ‘Kevin Holland, you scare me, I’m OK with that.’ I allow myself to feel, but I will still take you out in the f*cking parking lot and fight you to the f*cking death. And Kevin Holland is not that way.
I was like, ‘Kevin, I don’t need money. You just walk out these doors, let’s go,’ and he was like, ‘F*ck that, I’m right here.’ He’s just being a p*ssy. He’s scared to feel. Kevin Holland, you can call me, we’ll talk about your feelings. I got you. Don’t be scared.”
Sean Strickland’s off-kilter approach to the fight game hasn’t earned him many friends among his fellow athletes, but his recent record speaks for itself. Strickland’s dominant striking-based style has earned him a five-fight winning streak and a #7 spot in the UFC middleweight rankings.
If he can take Hermansson out this weekend, he’ll likely move up into Hermansson’s #6 spot, placing himself ever closer to challenging the champion, Israel Adesanya. What do you think of Sean Strickland’s strange, violent trash talk? Let us know in the comments.
