One of the best moments of WWE in 2021 was the WWE Championship victory of Big E. Having won the Money In The Bank ladder match, Big E had a title shot he could cash in at any time. This all but ensured he’d get his time as a top champion in WWE – and it would go off without a hitch. However the reign that followed would leave a lot to be desired by both fans and WWE.
WWE Made Taking Big E As WWE Champion Seriously Due To Multiple TV Losses
While speaking with Z100’s Josh Martinez – Big E had the following to say about his time as WWE Champion.
“I wish it would have lasted longer, I wish we would have had the opportunity to do some more dynamic things and you know, I don’t think it — it’s difficult to really latch onto a new champion when they have — within their first month, they have multiple losses on TV but again, we can go down this path. Look man, I genuinely appreciate all the people who support me and who want better for me. I also want better for myself and I guess I’ll just leave it there.”
Big E Has Fallen Right Back Down The Card – Is Now Back To Tag Team Wrestling
His reign came to an end during a Fatal Five Way match at WWE Day One, which saw Brock Lesnar enter the match at the last minute and win. This card change was due to Roman Reigns missing the planned match with Lesnar over the WWE Universal Championship.
Big E would be moved back to the tag team division on Smackdown Live following this, something which he views as a major downgrade in his career path. The feeling online is that WWE hadn’t really had anything planned for Big E following this cash-in, which itself was a simple attempt to boost TV ratings.
