Eddie Edwards is considered as the heart and soul of Impact Wrestling by many of the fans and is a fan favorite.
So when he turned heel and joined Honor No More it was a classic betrayal that was pretty easy to see coming, but still had enough punch that it stung many fans.
It’s the same type of turn many of us watched during the WCW/ECW invasion of WWE storyline when Steve Austin turned on the WWE.
Austin’s turn stung and surprised a lot of fans, so it makes sense the angle would be used at a later date.
Austin and Edwards’ characters are polar opposites with Steve Macklin being close to Austin’s character than anyone.
Comparisons aside, Edwards is playing the jilted company man to the hilt and it comes across as sour apples on his part.

New angle, new contract
Edwards’ heel turn was the perfect storyline way for Impact Wrestling to bring in Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanelis, Vincent, and PCO from ROH and form a faction with Edwards as the leader.
Out of all of them, only PCO was announced as signing with Impact Wrestling, and recently Edwards resigned for a multi-year deal with the terms not being made public.
While it’s great he’s staying in Impact Wrestling, and he gets to refresh his character with the heel turn and he’s loving it.
Edwards recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of si.com about his deal and his turn.
In his interview, Edwards stayed in character for the most part.
“It’s a completely different chance for me to express myself.
“I’ve been here for almost eight years, and I’ve done a lot. And there is still a lot more for me to prove.”
He talked about how his original plans went awry when Sami Callihan was hurt and his desire to step outside his comfort zone.
“Originally, I had planned to do more tagging with Sami Callihan, but he got hurt so that changed what I was doing. It was time for a change, and this is my opportunity to step outside my comfort zone. So let’s see what we can do.”
Since his turn, Edwards has been dealing with giving his wife, Alisha Edwards, after he gave her a hard line choice to stand with him or against him.
So far, they’ve just scratched the surface of their angle but it looks like it’s going to be a good one as she’s willing to stand with him as his wife, but won’t turn her back in Impact Wrestling.
