Finn Balor caused a stir among fans for not being in the Royal Rumble. Many speculated that he could be injured or had a falling out with WWE management among other things.
It was a reasonable concern for fans as he’s had a few injuries over the years that have ended his championship reigns and broke the heart of many fans as it feels like he’s snake bit at times.
As it turns out, the fears weren’t warranted as Balor reappeared a few weeks later without any mention of an injury or injury news making the rounds on social media.
Setting the record straight
Balor recently appeared on BT Sport where he explained the reason he missed the Royal Rumble was due to problems with his Visa. Special thanks to @wrestlefeed.app for the transcript.
“I didn’t want to take any time off. I didn’t want to miss any shows. I didn’t need any time off. I wasn’t injured. I didn’t need a rest.
“Legally, my Visa needed to be renewed and I needed to go home to Ireland and go to the US Embassy to get a new Visa. And that’s why I wasn’t at the Royal Rumble and that’s why I wasn’t there for a month. Everyone’s asking questions, ‘Finn’s not here, Finn’s not there.’
“It was strictly a legal paperwork issue that had to be rectified. It had kind of been pushed and pushed, and pushed on through COVID because we couldn’t travel, and it was…a window opened up and we said, ‘Look, we are going to have to do it eventually, let’s just do it now.
“The time off was taken reluctantly in January to take care of that paperwork but thank God it’s all taken care of now for the next 10 years.”
This is great to hear as we were of the mindset that he might’ve been injured, and knowing it was something as simple as paperwork (okay, not really that simple) is good to know.
On the plus side, it gave us a chance to miss him so when he returned and soon won the United States Championship from Damian Priest it had a pleasant feel good moment, and his ongoing co-feud with Austin Theory is fun to watch.
Balor is one of WWE’s top wrestlers and a fan favorite and it’s great to see him back in action again.
What do you think is next for Balor? Will he had a long reign s US Champion or will Austin Theory win it? Let us know in the comments below.
