Jake Paul has made no secret of his dream to fight combat sports megastar Conor McGregor. In a recent Tweet, the YouTuber-turned-boxer made an offer to Dana White.
“Dana – Since you like me now, how about a 1 fight UFC deal to fight Conor. If I win, you agree to my UFC fighter pay and healthcare proposal.
Jake Paul Pitches McGregor MMA Fight to UFC
If I lose I donate my entire purse to all UFC fighters who make less than $50K a fight and never mention UFC again Deal?”
Jake Paul has been a thorn in Dana White’s side for some time now. Apart from unleashing diss tracks amid his endless storm of Twitter insults and media mud-slinging, Paul has been agitating for Dana to improve the working conditions of his fighters. Paul even bought in to the UFC’s parent company, Endeavor, to push for a pay raise for up-and-coming fighters as well as health care.
Jake Paul also took to Twitter to blast Conor McGregor’s striking as the Irishman returns to fighting shape. McGregor has been on the sidelines since he sustained a brutal leg break against Dustin Poirier last July.
“I would KO Conor in boxing or MMA. Right hand of God.” McGregor simply replied by calling Jake Paul a “jackass”.
Jake Paul elaborated on this goal, even naming MMA’s second-biggest star as his other target.
“Fighting Conor is what I want most, but would fight Masvidal as well. I know it might seem impossible to beat these guys in MMA, but when you believe, you can achieve anything. I would ask for six months to train.
This is bigger than me. This is my Marvin Miller energy. If I lose I would donate my earnings from the fight to fighters who make less than $50K per fight, with a higher share going to athletes who make the least but have been in the UFC longer. And I will never mention UFC again.
There are no losers in this proposal. UFC has a massive revenue generating event. If I win, Dana will change the future of UFC fighters forever. If I lose there will be a one-time bonus to a lot of fighters, MMA doesn’t have to hear from me again and Conor [or] Jorge win again and get to shut up Jake Paul.”
It’s exceedingly unlikely that Dana White would ever let Jake Paul compete under his banner. Far, far stranger things have happened in this sport, however. Do you think McGregor vs Paul should go ahead?
