Comedian and Writer, Jon Stewart has spoken up in defense of friend and fellow comedian, Pete Davidson, amidst the ongoing beef between Pete and Kanye West that seems to have been caused by the split between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
Jon Stewart Takes Pete Davidson’s Side, Says “I just Love That Kid”
Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce about a year ago after being married to Kanye West for about 8 years. Sources close to Kim explained that the Fashion Moghul had been holding down in the relationship but could no longer continue to do so and decided to call it quits.
Shortly after, Pete Davidson and Kim started seeing each other, this seemed to have aggravated Kanye who believed at that time that things could still work out with Kim. As many friends, family members and other celebrities have been addressing the issue between Pete and Kanye, Jon Stewart—as a friend of Pete’s also decided to weigh in.
He did this on The Howard Stern Show while speaking to host Howard Stern. The 59-year-old Emmy Award winner who became acquainted with Pete through John Mulaney and Dave Chappelle explained that he knows Pete “real well.” This is probably why he felt he could weigh in on the issue.
Speaking about Pete, Stewart says “I think he’s doing as best as you can in that situation when you’re dealing with something that’s so explosive and loaded with all kinds of other things. I just love that kid.” Stewart also mentioned that when it comes to other comics, he feels protective in the way a parent does.
“I’ve seen too many of my friends get in trouble. It’s a f–ked up business.” Hence his reason for being protective of Pete. In being open about his dislike for Pete, Kanye West recently made a video that clearly showed how he saw Pete, which was not nice.
Another person in the comedy world that has spoken openly about the beef between the two was Chris Redd and he said he hoped that Pete and Kanye “figure that out soon.”
