Music Mogul Dame Dash has spoken out in the aftermath of Kanye West’s ban from the Grammys.
Music Mogul Dame Dash Gives His Take On Kanye West Being Cancelled From The Grammys-‘Kanye Don’t Give A F**k’
The rapper had nobody to blame but himself when the award ceremony decided to cancel him in the aftermath of a racial slur he had directed towards talk show host Trevor Noah.
And given that the latter will be hosting the Grammys, it was no surprise that Kanye was cut from the lineup as his behavior is often unpredictable.
As such, it was not possible to tell what would have happened had Kanye been in the presence of Trevor, knowing that the latter had been very critical over his treatment towards Kim Kardashian.
But for Dame, he downplayed the significance of the Grammys. In an interview with TMZ, he said: “Kanye dont give a f**k’ about the Grammys. We make our own Grammys…So we don’t have to worry about nobody else’s rules.”
Dame’s comments do have an element of truth in them. There is a feeling that artists should be allowed to express what they feel, which is the very essence of being a musician.
And if people do not happen to resonate with the comments, then they are more than welcome to not listen to them. But by censoring people, there is a feeling that cancel culture is getting out of control.
Dame added: “It’s not for them to judge who is hot. It’s us… They really shouldn’t be giving us the award, we should be giving them the award.”
Those prior comments have been taken on board to some extent by Kanye. He recently made the controversial move to only have his new ‘Donda 2’ album exclusively streamed on his own stem player music platform.
This was done as a way for Kanye to break away from the monopolisation of the music industry by other streaming services such as Apple and itunes.
But just as he does that, his behaviour does not contribute to people getting behind his cause. And that is something that he will have to get a handle on if he wants to become less reliant on the mainstream music industry. So there you have it folks.
