Steve Austin Says He’ll Win in Rematch with the Rock

With Steve Austin returning to WrestleMania 38 as a guest on the Kevin Owens Show, it brought back memories of when he wrestled his final match 19 years ago against the Rock at WrestleMania 19.

It’s impossible to look at the WWE and not remember “Stone Cold” Steve Austin who saved the company and became one of, if not the, biggest star in the company’s history.

While this was the perfect ending to arguably the greatest feud in WWE history, Austin has said he’s not completely satisfied with it because he thinks it could’ve been better.

    Room for improvement

Granted, it’s one of my favorite matches aside from wanting Austin to win at the time (huge Austin fan), but now I understand the reasoning behind it and it helped make the Rock an even bigger star.

In the end, it was an awesome moment and I’m glad I got to watch their feud in full as the torch was passed to a younger talent as should happen.

Austin appeared on The Bump and talked about their match and his interaction with the Rock afterwards.

Special thanks to comicbook.com for the transcript.

“Nobody really knew this was going to be my last match; The Rock knew, and a couple of guys in management knew. I was going to go ride off into the sunset. I defeated The Rock two times prior at WrestleMania, and at WrestleMania 17, we rocked the house… I thought the match was good, but it could have been better.”

After the Rock won, he wanted to express his appreciation for what Austin did. Austin said:

“Right there, that part in the ring, he pushes Earl Hebner out of the way and says, ‘Hey man, I appreciate everything you did for. I just want you to know that I love you.’ I’m laying there with my eyes closed, and I said, ‘I love you, too.’ He meant it, and I meant it. Like we both said, we bring out the best in each other.”

As for a rematch, that could be interesting as Austin has said he’s not interested in wrestling again, and the fact he’s stuck to his guns for 19 years is something we don’t see often in the business.

Still, we’d love to see the rematch and it looks like Austin’s ready to walk off with another win. He was on A Little Late With Lilly Singh when he talked about how he’d win. Special thanks once again to comicbook.com for the transcript.

“Man, if you’re asking me, it’s gonna be ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. I would walk in there, stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry. See, Rock’s been out there making all these movies. He’s the number one movie star in the world and I know he’s been in the gym, but I’m still pretty hard. I’m still pretty salty. I’m still leaning on theme beers. And to match us up right here, right now I’m predicting ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. I’m sure The Rock would tell you Dwayne Johnson.”

That’s about all the promo I need and I’m stoked for them to tie up again.

What do you think? Should Austin and the Rock go another round? Let us know in the comments below.
