It’s not exactly the Conor vs Khabib bus incident, but upcoming UFC lightweight Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett unloaded on Twitter rival Ilia Topuria in the lobby of their shared hotel this week.
Footage from Topuria’s Instagram page showing the pair throwing punches at one another before others intervened to prevent any real damage from taking place.
Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria Fight In Hotel Lobby
Topuria left no doubt as to why he’d targeted Pimblett, telling the loudmouthed Liverpudlian fighter that he’d been warned.
“I warned you! This is what happens when you disrespect me and my country! You saw me and wanted to greet me because you s*** your pants… and you should thank my team because if it wasn’t for them separating me, I would have taken your head off. This is not twitter, this is real life.”
Of course, true to form, Paddy “The Baddy” retorted quickly: “6 vs 1 and yous never done nothin gang of bitches” When Topuria replied with a screenshot, Pimblett blasted him even further.
“That’s a screenshot of me slipping a punch 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣he tried to hit me after gettin something bounced off his head an I slipped it why do u think he’s deleted the insta story already
Post the video lad if u have footage @Topuriailia let’s show the world u coming at me and me standing my ground against a full firm of 6 of u an then u throwing shots that I slip and bounce a hand sanitiser off ur head u little worm 🤗”
Ilia Topuri, ranked #15 in the UFC featherweight rankings, remains undefeated in MMA. Paddy Pimblett is a rising star in the promotion, with one fight under his belt. Both are set to appear at this Saturday night’s UFC London event, with Pimblett appearing on the main card for just his second appearance.
Topuria is set to face Jai Herbert, while Paddy Pimblett’s next opponent is Rodgrigo Vargas. Pimblett has promised yet another early finish for Vargas, after demolishing Luigi Vendramini in one round in his UFC debut. Topuria’s last fight, against submission specialist Ryan Hall, ended in an emphatic knockout, too, preserving Topuria’s winning streak.
Topuria competes at both lightweight and featherweight, so it’s plausible that, one day, these two fighters will have the chance to hash things out in the Octagon.
