To say Adam Cole and Pat McAfee don’t like each other is an understatement, and it goes back to when Cole’s interview on the Pat McAfee Show went off the rails in a big way.
Of course, this looks like a work in every way possible given their feud and all, but this is also McAfee’s show and he mainly sticks to questions and interviews, so it could go either way.
For reasons that are curious at best, Cole made a comment recently when he spoke with Stephani Chase on her podcast.
Given he’s with AEW now makes this feel like it’s more of AEW taking shots, which is something fans have grown tired of. On the plus side, at least he praised McAfee’s WrestleMania match.
“As a person — he’s a dirtbag — can’t stand him, but if I look objectively and talk about how much potential he has, Pat McAfee blows my mind. He is so athletically gifted. As far as the wrestling part, he’s done great. Everyone knows he can talk for hours and is super compelling and interesting. Pat knocked it out of the park, he did an amazing job. As far as potential of where he can go and what he can do in the pro wrestling industry, I think he can go as far as he wants to, seriously. To me, it was one of the highlights of the entire weekend, Pat’s match. He’s a terrible person, but a lot of potential.”
There’s no denying McAfee’s abilities, but he can be grating at times, which would make him a great heel, but that doesn’t take away from them having some of the best exchanges in recent memory.
Setting the stage
It all started when McAfee started off by saying Cole will never be as good as Shawn Michaels. Cole pointed out he never said he was trying to be better than him, just the best Adam Cole.
Pat backtracked and said he meant no offense, and went on how Cole surrounded himself with talented individuals in the Undisputed Era to succeed while Michaels did it on his own.
Maybe he never heard of the Kliq?
When Cole became offended and defensive, McAfee backtracked and said that’s what people are saying and it’s his job of being an interviewer to ask the tough questions.
And that’s when things went wrong between them when Cole lashed out:
“You’re being a total d— right now. And I find it so ironic, that of all people to say that I surrounded myself with really great talent and that’s the reason I succeeded, of all people you? What, a punter? You being on a team that literally did everything. You just happened to kick a football every now and then, and all of a sudden you feel like you’re really, really important. Of all people to say that to me? That I surround myself with super talented people, and that’s the only reason that I was successful? You’re a psycho.”
Afterwards, McAfee took to Twitter to share his thoughts and feelings, but with Cole’s latest salvo we’re curious if McAfee will continue with this if it is a work since that’d help Cole and AEW.
If it’s not a work, we can’t wait to hear McAfee’s response.
