Now that Roman Reigns has both titles and it’s been reported that the unification is a short term idea, there’s the chance that Reigns will lose one of the titles in the near future.
Granted, it could be a couple of months for a solid build up, and we expect it to come down to Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes feuding for the titles.
At the moment, Cody is in a feud with Seth Rollins instead of making a beeline for Reigns as he should’ve as soon as he announced winning the WWE Championship is his reason for returning to the WWE.
Orton is in a feud with the Usos and Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Championship, and we think RK-Bro’s upcoming match with the Usos will help push Orton into a singles feud with Reigns.
Legend Killer at work
This is pure speculation on our part, but let’s assume that during their match with the Usos, which will probably become a triple threat with the Street Profits for no real reason, Riddle is taken out by the Usos.
That would enable RK-Bro to lose the tag titles and would set Orton on a path of revenge to hurt the Usos and Reigns the best way he can — taking the WWE Championship back.
It’ll allow Orton so slip back into his Legend Killer persona and match wits with Reigns by systematically going after the Bloodline until it’s just the two of them for SummerSlam.
This would be an awesome storyline and match that would allow Reigns to face his greatest threat since Orton would eliminate the Usos, so Reigns would have to fight one on one for once.
And this is where we can see Cody slipping.
Breaking free
Chances are, Cody would make it a triple threat match since gimmicks are the WWE’s forte anymore.
But assuming he doesn’t and Orton is able to take one of Reigns’ championships, that would set the stage for the two of them to face off in what could be a classic feud with two highly talented wrestlers.
The stage would be set with Orton edging closer to the total championship held mark, while Cody will look to win his first one to honor his father.
There are so many possibilities for these two to face off and build a feud, and we’re curious how the WWE will handle it and if they’ll go this route.
