Two days after Kanye West quit the annual 3-day music festival, Coachella, the management has brought it to public notice that not one, but two people will replace the Donda Artist at the festival. Wondering who these two are?
The Weekend And Swedish House Mafia To Replace Kanye West At Coachella 2022
The Weekend and Swedish House Mafia would be performing as the Saturday headliners at the 2022 Coachella festival. They will be performing along with other stars like Harry Styles, Billie Ellish, Big Sean, Megan Thee Stallion, and Doja Cat. In a statement to Variety, the President of Coachella Promoter Golden voice-Paul Tollett addressed the news.
“I’m so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and the Weekend finishing out the Saturday night slot this year.” Tollett also stated that The Weekend has a special relationship with Coachella and he is, therefore “thankful” about the performance to come.
As to why Kanye West dropped out of performing at Coachella, no one knows for sure as the rapper had not spoken regarding the issue. However, many speculate that it could be that he went through on His threat to Billie Eilish about pulling out of the festival show if she refused to apologize to Travis Scott.
Ye believed that Bille had insulted Travis (whom he was going to bring out at the show) by pausing her performance to help a fan. Billie kept her stand saying she “never said anything about Travis” as she was just “helping a fan.” Also, based on Kanye West’s public actions towards his now ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her current boyfriend, Pete Davidson, a petition by change.org called for Ye to be removed from the artistes’ lineup for the show.
One of Ye’s upsetting actions was when he made a video that did not pleasantly portray Pete and when he took jabs at Kim and her parenting skills publicly. For the petition, about 50,000 signatures were added requesting Ye’s removal but it is unclear whether this contributed to the Yeezy Fashion mogul’s decision to quit.
