The highlight of the UFC 264 event, was of course the moment when Conor McGregor broke his leg. The Notorious delivered a leg kick to Dustin Poirier and everything seemed OK at the moment. Several moments later, he stepped on his leg and tried to push passing a great deal of force on the broken bone.
Consequently, the world collapsed on the Irishman. The leg broke near the ankle and the Notorious fell, knowing that he lost the fight and will be off for some time after this.
Conor McGregor Is Ripped And Shredded After Dustin Poirier Broke His Leg
John Kavanagh, the Notorious’s coach says that his trainee broke his leg early in the fight when he kicked Dustin Poirier’s elbow in the first round. The technique that he and the Notorious wanted to implement in the fight was ‘kick and run’. “As planned, he throws a leg kick, he moves away, and then he threw a teep, and that was one of the techniques we definitely wanted to employ in this fight.
Being southpaw, that liver side is there, so we’re looking to teep in that area. Important is, when implementing these abdomen hits that he avoids hitting the elbows of his opponent.” – however, this did not work well for the Notorious.
After the recommended off-time, and after the needed recovery time, the Notorious is announcing his return to the UFC in great fashion.
He recently posted a photo on his Instagram profile with the description ‘Lightweight’ – showing his great physique and bulked body.
In which weight division will the Notorious fight now? What is his plan for making a return? This questions come naturally. From a possible Jake Paul fight to a possible Alexander Volkanovski fight – the rumors are many.
In any case, Conor McGregor has a soft side now. He might be big, he might also be more powerful, but his leg is now his Achilles heel. We can assume that in his following fights, the point which will be mostly aimed will be his ‘weak’ leg.
Conor McGregor made a strong statement that he would gladly fight the actual welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. This is a good choice show-wise, bad choice outcome-wise for the Irishman. The Nigerian Nightmare has great wrestling techniques and is one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters.
The Notorious has high goals. He might easily face the same destiny that the Gamebreed Jorge Masvidal had. He was KO’d by a hard right hand to the head.
If this fight happens one is sure, we would have great trash talk and press conferences. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the fight will be a great show.
