Jake Paul is hoping to add another UFC name to his list of victories, and it could be the biggest one yet. UFC commentator and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping was the latest target of a Twitter tirade from Paul, who repeatedly poked fun at Bisping’s missing eye.
Bisping initially told Paul: “I won a world championship and more importantly the respect of the fight community. That’s 2 things you’ll NEVER do. Ever.”
Jake Paul Challenges Michael Bisping to Boxing Match
And Jake Paul fired back, specifically targeting the retinal detachment Bisping sustained fighting Vitor Belfort years ago. Bisping today has a glass eye in place of his original, which he occasionally takes out for his own amusement.
“Dear @bisping, I challenge you to stop hosting your struggling podcast, get licensed to fight, and box me. Let’s see if that UFC belt and all the respect you have can help you beat me in a boxing match.
When I was crying earlier after he tweeted me – I was sobbing – then I was like, ‘F***,’ I started wiping my tears away with the $50 million that I made last year fighting. In my last fight, by the time Round 3 was over, I made more money than he did in his whole entire career.
So I get why he’s mad at the new kid on the block, talking all this s***. And when he looks at his bank account, guys, you may not know this, he only sees half of it, so he really thinks he made half of that amount of money since he only has one eye.
But the eye jokes are not funny. I…truly don’t think it’s funny. I…think it’s mean. And…I…am sorry.”It’s exceedingly unlikely that this fight will go anywhere. Reportedly, Jake Paul tried to entice Michael Bisping into a boxing match months ago, which Bisping thought was a joke, and then turned down because it wasn’t enough money.
Challenging yet another retired UFC fighter is par for the course for Paul. Paul’s undefeated pro boxing record includes the likes of Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren, both of whom were retired and fought at 170 pounds, far below Paul’s weight of approximately 200 pounds. Michael Bisping, who fought at 185 pounds, is closer to Jake Paul’s natural weight, but with only one eye to see out of, Bisping’s odds of getting a boxing license are vanishingly thin.
Is Paul vs Bisping a fight you want to see, or should Jake try his luck elsewhere? Let us know in the comments.
