Khamzat Chimaev Exposed Himself At UFC 273 – Is It A Good Or A Bad Thing?

Khamzat Chimaev Exposed Himself At UFC 273 - Is It A Good Or A Bad Thing?

The man, the myth. The unbeatable and untouchable fighter. This was Khamzat Chimaev before the UFC 273 bout when he clashed with the wild Gilbert Burns.

Many compare the fighter with Khabib Nurmagomedov, due to his origin, due to his fighting background, and due to his fast rise and no loss policy.

Did Khamzat Chimaev Expose Himself At The UFC 273 Fight? Is It A Good Or A Bad Thing

Until the UFC 273 bout, the Borz had received only two strikes and had given around two hundred. This unbelievable fact had the public fantasizing and titling him as untouchable, unbeatable, and intangible.

With his appearance at the UFC 273, Khamzat has revealed to the world that he is human. He revealed that he can be beaten and that he bleeds as well.

“I was focused too much to knock him out” – Khamzat said at the post-fight press conference.

“Whomever I spoke to the week before the fight I told I was going to knock him out in one round. And that is what I tried to do. That was wrong for me, from the beginning. This guy is tough, I wasn’t able to accept that. Through all three rounds, I tried to finish him by all means. Next time, I’m going to work differently and I’ll be a little bit smarter. I’m going to smash somebody.” – Borz added.

“This wasn’t something surprising for Gilbert, but it was unexpected for me. My coach has told me previously, that I have to throw him down and be more technical. I just wanted to take his head off. Next time, I’m going to work differently.”

That’s what coaches are for, right? You need to listen to them. In his next fight, Khamzat must live up to his previous reputation and show us that he is still the same untouchable Chechnyan warrior.

Nevertheless, not all that Khamzat Chimaev revealed during this fight was bad. He also revealed that he can receive punishment, that he can take some significant blows and not fall down. He is not strong only on the ground, he can give – but he can receive as well. Despite the beating that he got, he kept pushing forward without hesitation.

The bad is that he lost this invincible character vibe that he had, and consequently, the good is that he showed that he is not afraid to receive some strikes as well.

There are some rumors that we might see a rematch of the legendary clash later this year. If the UFC arranges that we will definitely see Khamzat in a different light. He would be more careful, more technical, and cautious. He doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes and face the same consequences once again.

Until then, we can only confirm that we enjoyed the great fight and that we want to see more of him in the following seasons.
