The bar has been raised for celebrity matches in WWE after Wrestlemania 37 & 38. Bad Bunny, Johnny Knoxville and Logan Paul have all shown great potential in the ring over the last two years, with Logan Paul being a shock to many during his tag team match with The Miz against Dominik Mysterio & Rey Mysterio.
Paul has a sports background in boxing, but this was his debut match within WWE – and was very impressive. Part of this was due to his natural charisma, which has made him an incredibly popular name online – but he needed to be reminded to let that show during the match.
Logan Paul Was Given Advice From Triple H
While speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul would speak on advice that he was given from Triple H ahead of this match. He had the following to say.
“Literally, right before I went on, Triple H came up to me, he goes, ‘just so you know, it’s not always about the physicality. The people want to see your charisma. They want to see you, your personality.’ I went, ‘okay, cool.’ So I took that,” he said. “I actually took that and was thinking about what he said during some of the displays. And tried to just come through the screen so people could feel my emotion.”
The match has been well received by fans and critics alike, with Dave Meltzer awarding it 3 and ½ stars in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Following the match, The Miz would nail Logan Paul with the Skull Crushing Finale, which sets up a potential return program for Paul in WWE. There are rumours of plans for this match to happen as part of Summerslam later this year – often the second biggest WWE show of the year.
