‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Jackie Goldschneider has opened up on her battle in trying to overcome anorexia.
RHONJ: Jackie Goldschneider Opens Up On Her Battle With Anorexia-‘It’s A Mental Illness’
Jackie, for her part, has struggled with her weight for around two decades. But during her time on the franchise, she sought to downplay that her weight was a major problem.
This was done as a way to block out any negativity that may emerge over the way she looked. But given that her body was not receiving nutrients, she was unable to get pregnant naturally.
As a result, she resorted to IVF treatment. But once she was pregnant, she started to become obsessive over her weight. In an interview with Page Six, she said: “[I] went to a pregnancy nutritionist.
“[I] said…please tell me what the minimum amount I have to eat… I didn’t eat one thing over that. Looking back, it’s like, how do you even do that? But it’s all mental. It’s a mental illness.”
Despite her struggles, Jackie has come a long way since then. She expanded on how she has been getting professional help, as a way to change her relationship with food.
And after having gone through a period of six months in the form of rehabilitation, she has begun to see the results. Although there is still a long way to go, Jackie recognizes that it is a start.
She stated: “So I speak to my therapist twice a week, I speak to a medical nutritionist once a week and I have a women’s wellness physician. I’m learning how to eat normally and intuitively, and I’ve put on weight.”
The fans on social media reacted very positively towards this. They praised Jackie for the courage she had shown in speaking out. And by doing this, it set an example to others that it was possible to overcome similar issues.
One fan wrote: “Truly inspiring, your strength and love of yourself will guide you always, cheers beautiful!” It is great to see Jackie in a much better place, and long may it continue.
