It has been a long time since the Rowdy Ronda Rousey has been in the octagon. Her latest bout was on New Year’s Eve in 2016. That is 6 years ago, to do your math.
She ‘finished’ her UFC career with two consecutive losses, one iconic from Holly Holm, and a final one from Amanda Nunes. Her professional record is 12-2-0, making the last two fights the only losses that she has in her professional career. This truly is a great record.
Ronda Rousey To Julianna Pena – You Would Be Tougher To Beat Than Miesha Tate
Since her retirement, first of all she transferred to wrestling in WWE, where she spent almost four years, and furthermore, in 2021 she gave birth to a daughter. Her life is completely different now.
However, the wild Bantamweight left a very deep trace in the UFC women’s division. Four years after her ‘retirement’ from the UFC, she is still spoken about and from time to time called out by some of the current competitors.
This time, Julianna ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ Pena has mentioned Rousey. She remembered what the Rowdy said to her when they met back in 2014.
“You’re going to give me a tougher fight than Miesha Tate could ever dream about but when that day comes I’m still going to kick your ass” – Ronda said to her. Unfortunately for Juliana Pena, and for all of us, that day hasn’t still come.
Juliana Pena publicly confessed that a fight against Ronda is something she wants very much. Pena was going to go after her back in 2014, but due to an injury, she needed to take a break from competing.
This period matched exactly with the ‘retirement’ period of Ronda. Rousey received two losses and ran off to pursue a career in WWE.
“It bothers her that she left on two knockout losses and that she never came back to avenge those. If she ever does get an itch to avenge those losses, I would love the opportunity to compete against her and fight her. I don’t think that that’s going to happen. Let’s face it, she’s a star. She’s killing it in the WWE, and she can make a ton more money doing what she does over there instead of doing the real shit. But if she wants to challenge herself and come back to the real stuff, I’ll be here.” – Pena explained.
Notice how I put the word retirement in exclamation marks each time I refer to it? It is because I, same as Juliana Pena don’t think that Rousey will leave these two stains of her career unavenged.
It is a question of time when the Bantamweight decides that she is ready to come back. However, I want to believe that it is inevitable that she will come back.
When she comes back, aside from the revenge fights, she will have Juliana Pena ready for a clash as well. And we hope that this fight will happen. It definitely will be a great bantamweight bout. Is Juliana Pena tougher than Miesha Tate? What do you think?
