Tommaso Ciampa has no clue what comes next in his career, but knows that tonight is perhaps the last time he will be in an NXT ring. During an emotional speech, he’d be attacked by Tony D’Angelo. D’Angelo wants to be the new ‘don of NXT’, and tonight will not only look to take Ciampa’s spot on the brand, but also retire him.
With AJ Galante in his corner, D’Angelo could pull off anything tonight – but if this is the final stand of Ciampa – he might not be beatable. We’d get a video package detailing the past of Ciampa, who claimed his moment is now. He’d give fist bumps to commentary, do a tribute to Triple H and to HBK – and now it’s time to see if D’Angelo can shine on the big time.
Tony D’Angelo Starts Aggressively
D’Angelo would have an aggressive start, shoving Ciampa into the corner before taking a knee facebuster. A spinebuster would follow, more nods to the legendary HHH. D’Angelo slipped out of the ring, and was able to get the jump on Ciampa in the ring – before being beaten into a corner and taking a hard knee strike to the jaw. A second would follow, and the third.
Out to the floor, Ciampa hit a fourth knee strike, and gave him a pat on the back. Ciampa would look to expose the concrete of the floor – but D’Angelo would get the big takedown in the ring as Ciampa looked to retrieve him. Some hard strikes would get D’Angelo some advantage, and he’d apply a tight headlock – focusing on that previously broken neck.
Ciampa would fight free, and would nail some rushing lariats. The diving lariat would keep D’Angelo down, before missing the knee strike with the exposed knee. D’Angelo would nail a Falcon Arrow, before looking for the Fisherman’s Neckbreaker. Ciampa blocked and looked for Fairytale Ending, but wouldn’t get D’Angelo up.
Tommaso Ciampa Falls On His Own Sword
D’Angelo would decide to talk some trash, and this just fired Ciampa up. Ciampa would set up the top rope Air Raid Crash – but D’Angelo was able to fight free. He’d make a rare dive attempt, and took a knee to the jaw. Ciampa hit a rolling elbow, and D’Angelo would get desperate and grab his trusty crowbar.
This allowed the distraction to the referee, opening Ciampa for a low blow and Fisherman Neckbreaker – but that’s not enough to take Ciampa out tonight. D’Angelo would take Willows Bell & The Fairytale Ending – but was somehow able to kick out before three. Ciampa would apply the Gargano Escape, and D’Angelo found the bottom rope.
Out to the floor, Ciampa looked for the German Suplex onto the concrete, only for D’Angelo to hit the DDT instead. Back into the ring, D’Angelo got the three count – and can now call himself the Don of NXT.
Ciampa would get some ‘Thank you Ciampa’ chants after the bell. He’d kiss the middle of the ring, and take in the crowd – perhaps for the last time.
