Jake Paul was instrumental in putting together the biggest women’s boxing match of all time. Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano headlined Madison Square Garden this weekend, with Taylor clinching a split decision victory before a sellout crowd. Of course, Jake couldn’t resist talking some trash in the process, taking aim at both Katie Taylor and her fellow Irish athlete Conor McGregor.
Taylor acknowledged Paul’s contribution to the boxing world in a post-fight interview, one to which the YouTuber took apparent exception.
Jake Paul Baits McGregor, Katie Taylor
“As far as Jake Paul – this isn’t a game, this is actually a real fight. He’s never been involved in a fight like this and he never will be involved in a fight like this. So this is actually a genuine, real fight and he knows nothing about this.” Jake Paul, instead of talking to Katie like an adult, took to Twitter to reply.
“Katie I appreciate you thanking me for making this fight happen at a level Eddie never could. But the only thing real is you, your team and Eddie talk a lot of shit but can’t back it up. Respect on your legacy. But Amanda Serrano is the greatest female boxer of all time. And New.”
Jake had a million dollars riding on Serrano to win the fight, so his take on matters may well have been somewhat biased. Again on Twitter, Paul engaged in a war of words with longtime rival Conor McGregor.
“Im the one who has done more for fighters than you ever have the one who has won 5 fights in the past 2 years while you have lost 5 the one who isn’t owned by Dana White the one who made the fight you just watched happen the 1 who got your hero Katie Taylor paid that’s who”
Paul then addressed the former two-division UFC champion at the post-fight press conference.
“I mean, of course Conor’s watching to support Katie,” Paul said. “We had a little bit of banter back and forth. But of course he always has something to say, but he doesn’t really have a place to talk, right?
He hasn’t won a fight in five years. Dana [White] owns him, and I’m the one that got Katie Taylor a big payday and that’s his hero.
Conor McGregor’s not tall enough to ride a roller-coaster. I feel bad for him. He’s ducking me. We’ll get that settled one day.”
Conor McGregor, true to form, Tweeted an image of notorious English paedophile Jimmy Saville, comparing Jake Paul’s pink glasses to Saville’s own distinctive pair.
It’s not likely that we’ll see Conor McGregor, who has never fought above 170 pounds, take on Jake Paul, who towers at 6-foot and over 200 pounds, in the ring. What do you think of the latest Paul-McGregor beef? Let us know in the comments.
