The world is used to watching men fight. Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson had something to say about women warriors. Whether it is boxing, kick-boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, or Mixed Martial Arts the public is aware that the men entering the bout will come out bloody and bruised. However, the world was not used to watching women get bloody hands. For a long time, male fighters are glorified. But nowadays, things are changing.
It is safe to say that now the thrill is equal for male and female bouts. Of course, this varies according to the quality of the fighters, regardless of their gender.
Joe Rogan’s And Mike Tyson’s Emotional Acknowledgement Of Rose Namajunas’s Skills Will Leave You With Tears
One of the best fighters in the UFC promotion is Rose Namajunas. She has a rather ‘polished’ appearance, however, for what she lacks in bad looks, she fulfills with her arsenal of Jiu-Jitsu and taekwondo moves. She has black belts in karate and taekwondo, making her a fearsome striker.
Rose Namajunas is in the UFC promotion since 2014. Since then she has had a quite colorful record. She has a professional record of 11-5-0, the most recent fight being the one against Carla Esparza at the UFC 274. Rose lost the bout, by a split decision. However, the fight was a very close call. She might have easily won.
Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson are buddies and they feature each other in their podcasts fairly often. In one episode of the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, the duo talked about Rose and her upbringing and got emotional while talking.
Rose has won the UFC strawweight title back in 2021 against Zhang Weili. She took her victory by a knockout in the first round. She did show great readiness and brute force during this bout. Unquestionably, it could have been seen that she deserves the belt.
During the announcement of this bout, she could have been seen saying to herself ‘You are the best’ repeatedly throughout the whole intro. Joe Rogan interviewed her after the bout while still in the octagon. And when he asked her why she was doing it she replied – “Because I am indeed the best”.
Rogan and Mike Tyson watched the clip several times on the podcast and admired her determination and strong will. Mike Tyson reveals that he was rooting for her the whole time and even at some point got scared that she might get hurt. He had two reasons to root for her. Firstly, he took a liking to her because of her fighting style, and secondly because her opponent Weili criticized Tyson prior to the fight, saying he is not one to comment on UFC bouts. However, Namajunas did amaze everyone and won the fight.
Her story, determination, and skill combined have shown that when you want something so bad and you put work into it you will get it.
This left both Tyson and Joe Rogan with teary eyes, after watching the clip. “I mean look at her crying like that. I mean how can you not love her?” – Rogan asks at the end of the conversation. “Fighting is so spiritual, people do not understand it.” – Iron Mike says and agrees.
