Jorge Masvidal might be gearing up for a huge grudge match against Colby Covington, but he’s already got his sights set on another opponent. Nate Diaz, against whom Masvidal fought for the “BMF Belt”, has earned the ire of “Street Jesus”, and Masvidal took to a Q&A on Rumble to call the UFC veteran out once more.
“That motherf***er doesn’t want it, man. I almost damn near killed him, I beat him an inch within his f*cking skinny life. You saw his last fight with Leon. I was like, man, they make that mistake and put this guy in there with me again, you know? He’s not trying to fight.”
Masvidal On “f**king broomstick” Diaz Rematch: “That motherf*cker doesn’t want it”
Last time Diaz and Masvidal faced one another in the Octagon, Masvidal won via doctor’s stoppage. Nate Diaz’s face seemingly exploded, spilling blood everywhere, compromising his vision, and ultimately ending the fight.
While some might argue that a doctor’s stoppage isn’t exactly the same thing as a TKO win over one of the toughest men in the game, Jorge Masvidal is still riding high on that particular win. In fairness, Nate Diaz was the last time “Gamebred” emerged from the Octagon victorious, with two consecutive losses to welterweight champ Kamaru Usman immediately following.
Up next, however, is Masvidal’s former “best friend”, roommate, and teammate Colby Covington. “That little f*cking broomstick keeps talking.
You’re going to have to go at some point, you know. [When] I take Colby [Covington]’s ass out, if I gotta wait for Usman, it could be you that gets this ass whooping, bro… Let’s f*cking go, man, I’m gonna break your f*cking face, bro.
It’s not a call out. After handling business, I’m going for the title, and if I don’t have time to go for the title, I’m gonna break your f*cking face for all the sh*t talking you’ve done.”
If Jorge Masvidal can defeat Colby Covington, he may well be in line for a third title assault, although the likes of Leon Edwards – who recently dispatched Nate Diaz via decision – might well disagree, having long campaigned for the chance at UFC gold.
Nate Diaz is on the final fight of his current UFC contract, and a variety of fighters, including Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, are queuing up for their last chance at one the UFC veteran.
