Despite the fact that many have called this season of 90 Day Fiancé one of the worst yet, there have already been a few success stories. Sadly, the same cannot be said for some couples from the past seasons. What precisely went wrong with Mark and Nikki Shoemaker? After six years of marriage, Mark filed for divorce from Nikki in March.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Mark And Nikki’s Story On The Show
The duo was introduced to viewers in Season 3 of the popular TLC reality show. Mark lived in Maryland, while Nikki was located in the Philippines when they first connected online. He is around forty years older than she is, so the age gap was obviously going to be more of a problem than the distance. Added to that, Mark has four grown children from a previous marriage, and the fact that his new love was actually younger than his kids was admittedly not appreciated by his kids.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: What Really Led To Mark And Nikki Shoemaker’s Divorce?
According to Page Six, Mark proposed two days after they first met. The hasty proposal was a little unsettling, along with how Nikki also seemed to be a carbon copy of his first wife, probably because she came from the same region of the Philippines. He gave her many gifts, including a brand-new car, but he also had high expectations for her. He appeared to want a maid more than a wife, which caused the couple considerable friction.
Mark also reprimanded her for the smallest of offenses, but they still got married. They were no longer a part of any 90 Day spinoffs once their season ended. A few claims made by Mark and Nikki in their lawsuit against the network were eventually dismissed. Although the divorce filing shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, and yet why was it over already?
Mark’s attempts to transform Nikki into his ex-wife and his struggles with control definitely didn’t help. She is apparently being accused of being adulterous now. According to In Touch, Mark’s desire for a divorce was justified by “adultery” in the divorce file. Based on this information, a Reddit thread was created to discuss: “I’m happy she’s still alive and well. I really expected him to lose his s**t for touching windows and stuff.”
Another person said, “I wanna know was it really adultery or was she just saying hello to people?” Someone also wrote, “This was my first thought, too. She probably paid a male cashier at the grocery store and that was too much for Mark.” In this case, it would seem that Nikki’s supporters are firmly on her side and are delighted that she is genuinely alright.
