On the build to Forbidden Door, there was a lot of speculation on what would be happening with the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. When the show was originally announced, Kazuchika Okada was the champion – but at Dominion 6.12, he lost the belt to Jay White. As champion, White would appear on AEW TV to mock both Adam Cole & Hangman Page, saying neither deserve a title shot.
When Okada finally showed up on AEW programming, it became clear that a Fatal Four Way match was incoming, as White defends against Cole, Page & Okada here tonight. He can lose his belt without even being pinned tonight, meaning Switchblade better have a great plan here tonight.
A Once In A Lifetime Match
Crowds were chanting ‘Holy shit’ as soon as the bell rang, knowing that this is the kind of match you only get to see once. It’s an all-star game of a match, and White wanted nothing to do with it – rolling right out of the ring. Adam Cole followed suit, allowing Okada & Page to shake hands and kick this one off.
Cole would proceed to yank Page from the ring, as White struck Okada from behind. Page would fight off Cole, before working with Okada to take White down. Okada looked for the tombstone on the floor, only to be instead suplexed onto the apron. Page would take a delayed double suplex on the ramp,
Cole & White would work on Okada in the ring, Cole holding Okada back for some heavy chops. Okada would nearly break the two on one attack, but Page would be the one to make the save before this match was lost. Page would nail some chops in the ring to the chest of Cole, and hit the back elbow on a charging White
Cole would nail the anti-air kick to the face of Page on a moonsault, before Okada would once again face down Cole & White. Okada would get the upperhand this time, before sending both men into the crowd – before a running crossbody over the barricade. In the ring, Cole would be locked into the Money Clip.
Jay White Is A Snake
White made the save, before Page got a jackknife cover for the two count. Cole would hit the Backstabber on White, before the knee drop brainbuster for the two count. White would slam down Cole, before setting up the sleeper suplex. Page took the suplex, before White took the BOOM. Okada hit the shotgun dropkick, before Page hit the rolling elbow.
All four men would exchange strikes in the ring, before Page set up the Buckshot on White. Cole would make the save, before Page hit the moonsault onto Cole & Okada. Gedo would make the save for White, but took the elbow smash. Boot through the ropes, before White would almost get the Blade Runner.
Deadeye would land, before Buckshot Lariat – with Okada making the last minute save. Okada would look for the tombstone, before Page would roll him into a Deadeye attempt. Spinning Rainmaker was dodged, before Page set up the buckshot.
Cole would yank Page down and send him into the ring post. Panama Sunrise would be blocked into the Air Raid Crash neckbreaker. Okada hit the big elbow drop, before hitting the Rainmaker Pose. Cole would duck, before Page missed the Buckshot. Superkicks would land, before Okada hit the dropkick.
Landslide would land, Rainmaker followed. White hit the Blade Runner on Okada, and would pin Cole for the victory! No one expected that as a finish, but never bet against Switchblade.
