This is a great milestone for the UFC promotion. The UFC 275 will be the first UFC pay-per-view event that happens in Singapore. It takes place on the 11th of June, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang.
The event’s fight card is full of bouts that are promising a great deal of action. The UFC fans worldwide are mostly exciting over the bout that is headlining the event. Glover Teixeira against Jiri Prochazka. Both massive guys, both fierce and powerful, both unbeaten for a long time. They will clash and according to analysts, they will not disappoint the UFC fans worldwide.
Is UFC 275 Gonna Be Any Good? – Why Dana White And Joe Rogan Will Not Attend The Event?
Most probably that is why Dana White chose this fight to headline the event. He knows what the potential of the fighters is and knows how much attention they will attract. The more the attention, the more the pay per view subscribers. Hence more money for the promotion.
The champion Glover Teixeira, holding a professional record of 33-7-0 will defend the light heavyweight title against the potent challenger Jiri Prochazka.
Teixeira is on a winning streak since 2019. He hasn’t lost one single fight in this period and this will be his first title defense. His background in wrestling, boxing, and Jiu-Jitsu makes him one tough nut to crack. Will he be strong enough to hold on to his title after Jiri Prochazka comes for it with his full potential?
Jiri Prochazka on the other hand is a fighter with the most unusual haircut ion the UFC promotion. A man bun like ponytail that he fashions is not leaving the most serious impression when you see him the first time. However, don’t be fooled. He is a total beast. On a killing spree since 2016, he is looking to continue this trend and pass through Glover as fast as he can.
Even though this is a great reason to attend the fight, Dana White and Joe Rogan reportedly will not be at the event in Singapore.
Dana White is the most important person in the UFC, who is responsible for the success that the promotion has at the moment. If it would not have been for Dana, the UFC would not have been what it is today. So anyone would expect that he would be there due to this being such an important milestone for the promotion.
Joe Rogan, on the other hand, is in the promotion since the early days and as such is recognized as one of the trademarks of the UFC. His commentary skills are unquestionable and something without the bouts are not ‘complete’ in a sense.
So in order to not be there, you have to imagine that both of them would have some unpostponable job or responsibility. And you’d be right.
Joe Rogan’s missing of the event is connected to private matters. As it is widely known, he rarely flies overseas to comment on an event, and this event is not an exclusion. So, to fill in his place, the UFC will have Michael Bisping, who is the former middleweight UFC champion and a UFC hall of famer. He will be accompanied in the commentary team together by Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik.
Dana White has a little bit more personal ‘excuse’ to miss the event. Allegedly, he will not be there because, on the same day, his son celebrates his 21st birthday. Dana White sees this as something very important to him, personally.
He reveals that his plan for the weekend is to spend some quality time with his now-adult son. He turns 21, and his father is taking him to gamble in Vegas. Does gambling with your father count as quality time? Hmm, I guess so.
“It’s my son’s 21st birthday this weekend… Me and my son are gonna gamble together for the first time on his birthday on Thursday, then we’re flying down to Miami for the weekend… Caesar’s Palace, baby… it’s the best casino in town… Even if they kick me out, I’ll still be telling you they’re the best in town.” – White says.
Dana White is not new to casino games. He has a long history of gambling. And we might add that it is really successful one. Rumors state that he has won more than $7 million over his gambling career. Furthermore, due to this winning streak at some point in his life, he gets a ban from some of the Las Vegas casinos.
Finally, he does have the cash to do so. Gambling is something that he really enjoys and according to him is one of his strongest vices.
“I started playing cards, I took a year off, and then I started playing cards again on December 21, 2013. I have not lost a night of cards since December 21 and I just hit them again. This is like my part-time job. I work in the UFC all day and play cards at night.” – Dana says in a past interview.
Throughout his gambling career, he won great prizes over some great professional gamblers. He even won a trophy for playing Black Jack and a belt that one of the casinos gave to him as a token of appreciation for playing there and winning more than $1million in one night. However, the belt represents something more as well. With that, they seal his visits to the casino and ban him from further gambling there.
