‘Samurai hair’ is a trademark for the Czech warrior Jiri Prochazka. Crazy as it looks it made him distinguishable and unique. While many UFC fans claimed that it looks ‘funny’ he wore it with pride as it had a greater meaning for him. It made him acquire his nickname ‘the Czech Samurai’.
Now, after Jiri Prochazka has the UFC’s light heavyweight title in his hands, he decides that something in his looks needs to change to signal and symbolize the ‘new era’, the new beginning as a champion. He posted an Instagram post where he is missing one of his most identifiable characteristics. He doesn’t have the ‘Samurai hair’.
Jiri Prochazka Cuts Of His ‘Samurai’ Hair – Starts A New Chapter In His Life
The new UFC champion posted a photo of himself holding his ‘war hair’ in his hands, while seated on a barber’s chair in his homeland. He did not provide any explanation about it in the post. However, in the interview with Ariel Helwani he opens up and shares information about why did he decide to change his looks.
“I cut my hair because I needed to end one chapter of my life. So now I can start with new energy, a new wave. Honestly.” – Prochazka says in the interview.
We will need to get used to seeing him like this. The Samurai says that he might eventually grow it back, but he is unsure about it at the moment. “We will see.” – he says.
Jiri Prochazka, the same as Glover Teixeira, went through some massive damage to his face during the ‘title war’. Having this in mind, he will most certainly need some time to recover and get back on his feet, in order to be able to enter the octagon once again.
Jiri Prochazka has a long experience in MMA generally. He had his debut back in 2012. In the period until 2020, when he finally joins the UFC, he had completed almost 30 fights. Once he signed with the UFC, he accomplishes to win over former UFC champions like Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes.
And this speaks about his skills and determination since the very beginning in the promotion. He is a serious player and is not there to play games. He has set his eyes on the price once he entered the promotion and after 10 long years of fighting, he finally accomplishes his goal.
Jiri Prochazka’s match against Glover Teixeira is a candidate for the ‘Fight of the year’. As such, puts even more light on Jiri’s win. With less than 30 seconds remaining of the fight, he manages to get on Glover’s back and submission him with a rear-naked choke.
Who will the UFC match up with Jiri next? What do you think?
