In a recent appearance on the True Geordie Podcast, Logan Paul discussed the infamous suicide forest vlog from 2017 and how his relationship with The Rock was ended because of it.
“This Was One of the Saddest Moments of My Life” says Logan Paul About Friendship with The Rock Ending Because of 2017 Suicide Forest Video
On December 31 2017, Logan Paul explored Japan’s Aokigahara or the suicide forest. Located at the base of Mount Fuji, over a hundred bodies are found each year. While he and his party were being nuisance tourists for most of the vlog, it was his filming of a corpse they found and his reaction—and for some, lack of reaction—to it.
One of the celebrities offended by the vlog was The Rock whom he’d done Vines with in the past. Before getting into it, he said that it was “one of the saddest moments” of his life. He explained that following the Aokigahara vlog, his world turned upside down and that he was “in a hole”.
Then he received a call from the publicist he shared with Dwayne Johnson:
“She’s like ‘Hey, Dwayne has asked that you remove every video and picture that you’ve done with him. Maybe in the future, the relationship can be reconciled, but for now, he basically wants nothing to do with you.’ Which I also understood. I get it. I made a grotesque error.”
Logan Paul would go on to acknowledge that The Rock experienced things in life that “affected him in a vastly different way.” If you remember, The Rock explained that his mother attempted suicide when he was a teenager. Logan said that he wished Johnson had talked to him about cutting him off since they were on good terms before the video:
“I was so sad that my hero wanted nothing to do with me.”
Returning to 2022, The Rock gave Logan’s performance at WrestleMania the nod—it was definitely the best celebrity wrestling performance WM has seen. He said that he contacted the Great One on Instagram and went about things as if the reason why they’re not talking never occurred but the Rock didn’t entertain the DM.
The boxer and vlogger is older than he was in 2017 and has had time to both grow as an adult and reflect on how his actions impacted others. Sometimes, that’s all you can ask for and often, that’s all you will get out of a person.
