Right now, AEW have unfortunately had to cool off one of their biggest rising stars. Wardlow recently got the biggest win of his career, when he defeated former employer MJF. However, the contract status of MJF meant that moment was lost in the shuffle. Add in injuries to both the AEW World & TNT Champions, and instead Wardlow was tossed into a feud with ‘Smart’ Mark Sterling. However, he’s got golden dreams – and has detailed his championship plans.
Wardlow Knows He Will Someday Be AEW World Champion, But Has Unfinished Business First
While speaking with Forbes, Wardlow would explain why he’s planning to be AEW World Heavyweight Champion someday – he’s got unfinished business to handle first. Wardlow would be quoted saying the following.
“This is what people need to understand. I am absolutely 100 percent, without a doubt, without a question, am going to be AEW World Heavyweight Champion one day. That doesn’t even concern me. To me, that’s money in the bank. I cannot give my energy to the AEW World Title until I take care of unfinished business. You don’t just get to disrespect Wardlow and get away with it, and there’s a gentleman in the company that has, so it’s time for him to pay the piper.
I want to hold every title in the company, so the TNT title just happens to be the first one that presented itself to me,” Wardlow said. “Of course, everybody wants to be world heavyweight champion. I want to be world heavyweight champion, but more than that, I want the title that I’ve thought about every day. I want the title that I believe is rightfully mine, and more so than that, I need to teach Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky some respect.”
Right now, Scorpio Sky is coming back from a leg injury, and is expected to return to the ring soon. He’s in his second reign as TNT Champion, which could come to an end as soon as Wardlow is healthy. Wardlow lost his first match against Sky, due to interference from MJF.
