Seth Rollins has become obsessed with Cody Rhodes, and dropping back to back PPV matches would not help this. Now tonight, we get to see them enter Hell in a Cell, and finally put this feud to an end. This is set to easily be the most brutal match of their feud, which has seen Rhodes use some simple wrestling skills to get the win twice – but now all the rules are thrown out. Rollins has much more Hell in A Cell experience, giving him the edge here tonight.
Now, with a torn pec – with it being described as off the bone, Rhodes is still walking into the cell a wounded man. Despite all this, he was glad to ensure that fans get to see this match. Rollins will undoubtedly look to take advantage of this injury, but a wounded dog is sometimes more dangerous. Throughout the show, commentary double downed on the injury status of Rhodes – and that he’s brave for pushing forward.
Cody Rhodes Reveals Massive Bruise
Rollins would come to the ring in some polka dots that called back to Dusty Rhodes himself. Even below his ring jacket, Rhodes had visible bruising all over his chest – as if he warmed up with GUNTHER. The full bruising showed this injury was no joke, but the bell would ring.
Rhodes hit a jab with his left hand, before Rollins would go after the right arm with a stomp. Rollins took a kick to the jaw, before some jabs. Disaster Kick would land before the CodyCutter. Rhodes was eager for Cross Rhodes, but Rollins blocked.
Figure Four Leg Lock would follow, and Rollins pulled himself to the ringside area. He’d pull a kendo stick from under the ring, and hit Rhodes right in the massive visible weak spot. Rollins hit a lariat with the Kendo Stick, before driving the tip into the bruising.
Rhodes would throw some punches with the good arm, before heading to the apron and being launched into the cell. The kendo stick was used again, before Rhodes was tossed into the cell. Rhodes would keep fighting through the pain, and had the crowd behind him.
A lariat would land, and send Rollins to the floor. Rhodes would follow, before Rollins hit him with the steel steps. Rollins put on the jacket of Rhodes, before pulling out a polka dot weight belt. Rhodes would be whipped with the belt, before Rollins would grab a table.
A Babyface Performance For The Ages
The referee asked if Rhodes wanted to quit, but that word isn’t in his vocabulary even under these circumstances. The table was set up, but Rhodes would almost hit a powerbomb through the table. Chelsea Grin would land, and Rhodes was set on the table. Frog Splash would follow, but Rhodes was able to dodge.
Rhodes would grab a bullrope, and attach it to his wrist. Rollins was told to put it on, and would accept the challenge before getting tripped up and hit with the bell. Rollins would somehow kick out, before taking this one to the floor. Rhodes would be yanked into the corner post, and Rollins freed himself from the rope.
Another table was brought into the ring, but Rhodes hit Cross Rhodes for a two count. Superkick from Rollins landed, before a powerbomb through the table. Rollins would grab the sledgehammer – but Rhodes would block and hit a Pedigree for a two count.
Curb Stomp would land from Rollins, but Rhodes was able to hang on. Rollins hit a Cross Rhodes of his own, but Rhodes showed him how it’s done. Rhodes grabbed the sledgehammer but couldn’t use it. Rollins swung before being caught with double Cross Rhodes. Rhodes hit the sledgehammer shot and got the win.
