Austin Theory Feels His First Main Roster Run Didn’t Count
Right now, Austin Theory is on top of the world in WWE. Despite just losing the WWE United States Championship – he also claimed the Money in the Bank contract. This all but ensures he will become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the coming months – which will make his second run on the main roster an instant success. However, Theory doesn’t consider his first run to count.
Theory Doesn’t Think His First Main Roster Run Counts
This first run came as part of Seth Rollins budding faction as the Messiah – and saw Theory team up with Buddy Murphy. However it was short lived, and before fans knew it – Theory was back down in NXT. While speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful – Theory has the following to say.
“Basically, I never felt like I was brought up. I was still always under NXT contract. Somebody had got injured at the time and they were looking for somebody to fill in for a tag team. I live in Orlando, I was right there. Started doing some things, did some stuff with Seth Rollins and then it was one of those things where it was like, ‘This isn’t really going to stay a thing, so we’re trying to figure out how to do everything,’ and then it was like, ‘Theory’s still with NXT’.
Describing His Time In The Way
When he came back down to the NXT roster, he’d be paired up with Johnny Gargano as part of The Way faction. Working alongside Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae as well, The Way was one of the highlights of NXT for a time. Theory had the following to say about his time in The Way.
“So I was able to go down there and do some things there with The Way, create a really good personality, show that more, and then it developed over. I think everything happens for a reason and I think I really got on the main roster six months ago. I don’t ever think I was on the main roster because at the same time I was at the Performance Center and it didn’t really feel like the main roster. It was just different days, different people,”
