Former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo seems to be gunning to reclaim his old division, as he called out rising bantamweight Sean O’Malley on “The Triple C & Schmo Show.” Specifically, Cejudo, who own titles in both the UFC bantamweight and flyweight divisions, thinks O’Malley talks too much in comparison to his meager accomplishments. In fact, if and when the pair face off, Cejudo promises to finish O’Malley within two rounds.
“First of all, his performance absolutely sucked. He talks a lot. If anybody that talks – I’m proven, man. I don’t think I talk enough, to be quite honest with you.
Cejudo Wants O’Malley “Tune Up Fight”, Promises A Finish Within Two Rounds
I just think he thinks he’s better than what he really is, and to me that’s a problem, so I challenged him. I said, ‘What’s up, man? Are you ready?’ He’s like, ‘Cuh-cuh-cuh …’ I should start calling him ‘Stuttering Sean.’ He freaking tripped over his own damn words. But anyways, he doesn’t want this smoke. That would be the worst. It would be like Jake Paul facing Jon Jones. I would eat that dude alive.
I think that might be a good tune-up fight, but the goal for me for Sean is to get rid of him in two rounds. Like, don’t make him go past two rounds. So that’s my goal. But he wouldn’t take the fight. Stylistically, I’m just too smart, I’m too experienced, I’m too tough, and I’m definitely too damn good looking.”
Henry Cejudo’s dominant, powerful wrestling has served him well in his MMA career. It earned him Olympic gold and two UFC titles. He explained that this attribute sets him apart from O’Malley, a jab-happy striker whose performance against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276 was unimpressive, even if O’Malley claims that he had yet to get off the ground in the fight.
The plan for Cejduo, he says, would be to take O’Malley down, kick his front leg, and do “some nasty things” to “Suga” Sean. Sean O’Malley hasn’t faced a wrestler – or any fighter – of Henry Cejudo’s caliber yet, and a match against “Triple C” may well prove to be too much for the young bantamweight.
“I would take him down. I would do some nasty things to him. I’d kick that front leg of his and then I’d slowly start putting my hands on him, and that’s the game plan.”
