UFC commentator and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping faced down some of the greatest champions in UFC history. He shared the Octagon with the likes of Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, and knows more than most about coming face to face with mixed martial arts greatness.
With featherweight champ Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski about to face Max Holloway for a third time, Bisping has declared on YouTube that a victory would brand Volkanovski not simply Alexander the Great – he would be Alexander the Greatest.

Of course, Bisping couldn’t resist getting a little jab in at his old rival Conor McGregor while he was at it. If Volkanovski pulls it off, he will then be, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest featherweight that the UFC has ever seen.

Volkanovski has also long threatened to follow in McGregor’s footsteps, moving up to lightweight to challenge for a second title at 155 pounds. According to Michael Bisping, if the Australian fighter defends his title at UFC 276, he’ll be next in line to fight Charles Oliveira, the lightweight champion-elect. If this happens, Alexander Volkanovski will become only the fifth fighter to hold two simultaneous titles in the UFC.
“If Volkanovski gets the job done, he’s going to fight Charles Oliveira later this year. Double-champ, superfight, and I can’t wait for it.” Volkanovksi, for his part, is convinced not only of a win at UFC 276, but of victory against Charles Oliveira. “When I look at Oliveira, (he’s a) dangerous fighter.
Dangerous fighter, a lot of people love watching him fight, exciting fights. But obviously, he showed that he can be beat. He showed that in his last few. Even if they were exciting, he was almost beat in every one of those times. The thing is with me, I ain’t gonna give him them opportunities. If I land big on someone, they ain’t gonna get the opportunity to land big on me.”
