One of the best feuds of the year in WWE has to be the series of matches between Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins. Starting at Wrestlemania when Rhodes would return to WWE after years away and starting up All Elite Wrestling – they would have three increasingly good matches, ending with a Hell in a Cell match. Cody Rhodes entered that match with a torn pectoral tendon, and would still come out with the win. However, Rollins intends to get his win over Rhodes in time.
Seth Rollins Has Unfinished Business With Cody Rhodes Following Their Trio Of Matches
While speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Rollins would note that there remains some unfinished business between him and Rhodes. He’d be quoted saying the following.
“I mean, I’d like to get a win over him, so yes, I think there’s definitely more there. I would imagine if he comes back he’s probably gonna be gunning for me. I mean, I did put a sledgehammer in the back of his head, injure him a little more. I imagine there’s unfinished business for him as well. So, whenever he does return, I would assume I will have a target on my back,.”
Rollins would also peel back the curtain a bit, and would speak on the special circumstances that Rhodes injury going into Hell in a Cell provided. He’d say the following about how the goal is to always protect your opponent in the ring.
I mean, that’s what we do every time. That just had a special circumstance. That’s what our job is, and if you see something that looks physical, hopefully it doesn’t feel that way for somebody in the ring,’ he admitted. We’re not out there to hurt each other – they say it’s not ballet, which is accurate, but you’re not out there to hurt somebody in that way. It was business as usual in that sense, just had to take one little extra precaution. That was what we did, and it turned out to work OK for us.”
Cody Rhodes is expected to return to the ring surrounding the 2023 Royal Rumble match, and could rekindle his feud with Rollins on that night. When do you expect Cody Rhodes back in WWE? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
