Everyone tends to overlook Carmella as a viable challenger for the women’s world championships in WWE, but everyone got a reminder of how devious she could be when she claimed the win in a Fatal Five Way on the June 20th episode of Monday Night RAW.
Now, Bianca Belair has barely had a week to plan for Carmella as a challenger for her RAW Women’s Championship. Carmella is a former Smackdown Women’s Champion, and tonight could add more gold to her trophy case. Originally, Rhea Ripley was supposed to challenge tonight – but would suffer a concussion and was taken out of action as she recovers.
Carmella Picked The Right Time For A Hot Streak
Commentary would speak about peaking at the correct time, and Carmella might have picked the perfect time to go on a hot streak. Charlotte Flair is out of action, Bayley has yet to return from injury, and Becky Lynch is on a downward spiral. Only one name stands between her and the top spot, and it’s Belair.
Quickly, Belair would take Carmella down to the mat, and maintained control of the rear waist lock. Carmella tried to make the counter, but was sent to the apron. Back into the ring, she’d hit a knee strike to the midsection, before Belair flipped free and taunted – before moonsaulting over Carmella, sticking the landing and nailing the dropkick.
Carmella would try for a hurricarana on Belair, but was blocked into a tight backbreaker. Belair went for the back handspring moonsault, but Carmella fled the ring. Carmella would find no safety, as Belair hit the outside and ran Carmella down with a shoulder tackle.
Back into the ring, Carmella would manage to corner Belair, before nailing a stiff back elbow. Bronco Buster would land, before she’d put the long legs to good work for a submission – while also kicking Belair in the face. Carmella would be tilted into a pinfall, and Belair was free.
Bianca Belair Shuts Her Challenger Up
A body slam attempt would be blocked by Carmella, who would yank her down by her trademark braid. Belair was just fired up by this, before nailing a delayed vertical suplex. Some downward punches in the corner would follow, before Carmella was dropped with a stiff right hand.
She’d take refuge in the corner, and would side step a spear and Belair nailed the ring post. A thrust kick would land, before Carmella would mouth off. Belair would shut her up with a forearm smash, and nail a dominant K.O.D for the victory!
After the bell, Carmella would keep the attack coming – ensuring she got the last laugh here tonight. Will we see a rematch happen soon? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
