It’s become a trend for WWE to pull out Champion vs. Champion matches for Survivor Series in recent years. This has given fans some massive matches like Big E vs. Roman Reigns, Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar. In particular, the Styles vs. Lesnar match is one that fans loved – with many considering it to be one of the greatest matches of Lesnar’s WWE career. AJ Styles also looks back on this match fondly.
AJ Styles Considers Match With Brock Lesnar To Be One Of His Best Ever
While speaking with Inside The Ropes, AJ Styles would have a chance to reflect on his match with The Beast Incarnate. In particular, he recalls Lesnar warning him to not jump when thrown in one of his signature German Suplexes.
“It was great. We kind of discussed how we wanted the beginning to go and then after, I threw in my two cents. He told me not to jump when he gives me a German or he’d throw me out of the ring. I said, ‘Okay.’ But yeah, I mean, I think Brock showed me a lot of respect in the match that we had, and in telling the story. It was great. I thought it was one of the better matches that I’ve had. I was very happy with it.”
Right now, AJ Styles has been in a solid position with Triple H taking over the day to day operations in WWE. Brock Lesnar meanwhile seems to have taken a step back from WWE following his stellar Summerslam main event against Roman Reigns.
It’s unclear if Lesnar will be back in WWE anytime soon, but most fans would agree to seeing another big encounter between Lesnar & Styles. This is a matchup with more potential, and would give Lesnar a more fresh matchup – with his rivalry against Roman Reigns finally coming to an end.
