Joe Doering has made a name for himself as an in ring monster in Japan and the US, but it was announced on August 30, 2022 that he informed Impact Wrestling during last tapings at The Factory in Dallas, Texas his brain cancer returned.
He’s scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.
Joe had brain cancer six years ago, so he knows what to expect and what it takes, which gives us hope he’ll beat it once again.
Joe’s ready for the fight
On Impactwrestling.com, they shared Joe’s comments on his upcoming battle.
“They told me in 2016 that I would never wrestle again, and I proved them wrong. Guess I’m going to have to do it again. I try to not get too sad or emotional about it. Staying positive really helped me the first time, and that’s what I’ll do again.”
He added, “Please keep me in your thoughts and spirits. I hope to get back in the ring again very soon. To the IMPACT Wrestling locker room: you are family to me and I look forward to seeing you again very, very soon.”
Joe underwent successful surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment in 2016 to beat the disease and he returned to the wrestling wring within a year.
Despite his phenomenal recover, doctors told him to remain vigilant as the disease could return.
Impact Wrestling Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore said, “I know our fans and the wider wrestling community will join everyone at IMPACT in keeping Joe and his wife Lindsay in their thoughts and prayers. Joe loves pro wrestling and we all look forward to him returning to action when he’s ready.”
Making an impact
Since arriving in Impact Wrestling and joining Eric Young’s Violence By Design faction in 2020, the 6’5” 40 year old monster has lifted the group to new heights by winning the Impact Tag Team Championship twice with Young and Deaner under the Freebird rule.
Joe is best known for his run in All Jalan Pro Wrestling as the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion for two reigns.
He also spent 2010 in the WWE developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling as well as previous stints in Impact and other companies.
He’s given us some great memories through the years and we hope to see him healthy and back to wrestling before too long.
Sending him loads of prayers and well wishes. You got this, Joe. What’s your favorite Joe Doering match? Let us know in the comments below.
