Jeff Jarrett Leaves WWE and Road Dogg Takes Over as Senior Vice President of Live Events

There have been a few changes in the WWE since Triple H took over creative control, and this is one that may be a bad move for Hunter.

As reported by PWInsider, Double J finished his duties as Senior Vice President of Live Events last Friday (August 19). Jarrett only held the position for about a month, but it showed marked improvement on Raw and Smackdown as fans were louder and more involved than we’ve seen the last couple of years.

In many ways, it was a role that was perfect for Jarrett as he’s a great salesman and few are better at getting people’s attention and getting them revved up for an event.

Last night’s Raw (August 22) was quieter than recently, and it had us curious as to why. At the time we thought the WWE was playing with the PA system like they did under Vince, but watching the crowd gave us mixed results.

It may have been an after effect of Jeff Jarrett leaving, or they may have simply wanted to see WWE’s Canadian born superstars as they were the loudest for Trish Stratus, Kevin Owens, and Edge, with Johnny Gargano being an honorable mention due to his surprise return.

Road Dogg Jesse James will assume the position Jeff Jarrett held as Senior Vice President of Live Events.

    In steps the Road Dogg

With Jarrett leaving, Triple H brought in his former DX compatriot and former NXT coach/producer Road Dogg to take over Jarrett’s position.

Road Dogg has been making his rounds where he reportedly, maybe jokingly, said he begged Tony Kahn for a job in AEW and he appeared at Impact Wrestling Emergence.

He also launched his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, and we’re curious if he’ll continue with that given his new role in the WWE.

With his return to the WWE, the old band is continuing to return one by one as Triple H is reclaiming what he build in NXT and taking it to the next level.

As we mentioned above, losing Jeff Jarrett could be one of the few mistakes Triple H has made early on in his tenure as head of WWE Creative, but we’re not going to throw any stones.

He’s a highly intelligent man that’s a wrestling fan at heart, and Road Dogg is no slouch when it comes to the business so there’s every chance this will end up being a genius move on his part.

Only time will tell, and we’re excited to see what’s to come. What do you think? Will losing Jeff Jarret hurt the WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
