Over the past few years, we’ve seen a great working relationship formed between New Japan Pro Wrestling & All Elite Wrestling. This culminated in the AEW x NPW Forbidden Door PPV, which saw the biggest stars of both companies clash. One name who was featured was Great-O-Khan, who alongside Jeff Cobb entered the event as IWGP Tag Team Champion, losing the belts to FTR. O-Khan would recently speak about the AEW locker room – and not in a positive light.
Great-O-Khan Feels The AEW Roster Is Unrefined, Aside From MJF
During an interview with WrestleInn, Great-O-Khan would be asked a variety of questions – most notably about his brief time in AEW. When asked about his thoughts on AEW, Great-O-Khan would be quoted saying the following.
“We felt that AEW is full of Indy wrestlers. There are plenty of formidable wrestlers there, but they are unrefined and ill-educated. A shame.”
Despite this, he would express interest in working with MJF – who previously stated that Great-O-Khan was the only wrestler he respects from NJPW. When asked for his thoughts on MJF, O-Khan had the following to say.
“We care not for pro-wrestling, so we haven’t seen or heard of MJF. Yet clearly he is one of a precious few who truly understand the meaning of true “professional wrestling”, and we think he must be one of the very best in the world.”
Looking To Bring The IWGP Tag Team Championships Back To United Empire
Right now, Great-O-Khan is coming off a decent run in the G1 Climax. He had some great performances against the likes of Jay White, but failed to make the semi-finals. It’s become clear that a rematch with FTR is the plan, who will defend the IWGP Tag Team Championships against another team in the United Empire faction with Aussie Open.
That match will come as part of Royal Quest II on October 1st in London – which could help to set up Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb getting their long awaited rematch. Aussie Open gained the shot by defeating FTR & Alex Zayne in trios action in Nashville.
