It has been a while since rumors about Jake Paul against Anderson Silva fight started spreading. After months from the first mention of the possibility, it seems like it is now finally happening, and Dana White has something to say about it.
The UFC president Dana White attended the Dana White’s Contender Series press conference after the 6th episode of the 6th season and spoke about many things. Amongst other statements, Dana White weighed in on the rumors of the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight.
Dana White Says That Jake Paul Will Need To Sweat His Ass To Win Against Anderson Silva
Rumors have it that the famous YouTuber, now a boxer, Jake Paul will return to the ring on the 29th of October. He will face the UFC legend, Anderson Silva, on a Showtime pay-per-view card.
The public has divided opinions on Jake Paul’s choice of opponents. While many people, Jake Paul fans, support his decision, many criticize the ‘Problem Child’ for choosing retired opponents. People predict Jake Paul will knock out Silva. Many believe that Silva doesn’t have what it takes to win over Paul. However, the president of the UFC, the promotion that stood behind Silva since 2006, believes that Silva is still an exceptional fighter capable of delivering a great fight against many tough opponents.
Dana White says that Anderson Silva still presents a ‘legitimate threat’ to many top-class fighters. White is not even considering Silva’s age to be an issue for beating Jake Paul.
“If he’s really fighting Anderson Silva, if that’s true, it’s about time. He’s got a real fight on his hands there. Regardless of how old Anderson is.” – Dana White said to the journalists.
The rumors about the allegedly ‘agreed’ fight first started spreading after Keemstar and NoSmokeBoxing released reports on the alleged agreement.
We are not even sure if Jake Paul believes he can take on Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva. Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced that the YouTuber turned boxer would be a betting underdog for the fight.
‘The Problem Child’ has gone through a little bit of a problematic period himself recently. Two of his planned bouts got canceled at the last moment. Critics see this fight, if it ever comes to fruition, to be the one that will re-establish Jake Paul as a legitimate boxer.
For the time being, Anderson Silva has a boxing record of 3-1. The UFC legend defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via split decision and Tito Ortiz via knockout last year.
