In just his third WWE match ever – internet megastar Logan Paul has a chance to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He is set to face Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel later this year in one of the more odd choices for a WWE main event this year. Despite showing up in big matches at WrestleMania & Summerslam, and pinning two time WWE Champion The Miz, many still think this is an odd choice – but for Saudi Arabia, it makes sense.
Logan Paul Is A Big Deal To The Saudi Arabian Prince
While speaking on the “Sunday Night’s Main Event” show on TSN Radio, Dave Meltzer would explain the choice for Logan Paul to enter this huge main event spot at Crown Jewel. Meltzer would be quoted saying the following.
“He’s a big deal in Saudi Arabia. He’s a big deal to the Saudi Arabian prince and that’s the whole thing of these shows.”
When asked if this was about ticket sales, Meltzer would deny those claims – saying that’s not much of a factor in Saudi Arabia. It’s already a sold show.
“Nothing to do with that. Tickets in Saudi Arabia mean nothing. It’s not even part of the game. Of course, TV numbers whatever. If he draws younger viewers, that’s good but it’s not a play for TV ratings.
It is a play because the prince wants celebrity fights in Saudi Arabia to build the name in the media of Saudi Arabia and Logan Paul will get more of the type of press that Saudi Arabia is looking for than Kevin Owens or Seth Rollins. That’s what Saudi Arabia is there for. Saudi Arabia is for matches that the prince wants that will get press attention around the world for Saudi Arabia so this is a great match for that.”
If Roman Reigns is able to pull his usual quality of main event out at Crown Jewel, it will be a true testament to just how skilled of a professional wrestler he is. Do you think this match has a chance to impress fans? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
