Tonight was the one year anniversary of NXT 2.0 – a celebration of the wild year that followed a major rehaul of WWE’s developmental brand. It was a great show, closing out with a shocking title change as Solo Sikoa added the NXT North American Championship. However, perhaps the most shocking moment was what closed out the show.
NXT 2.0 Era Ends After Just One Year?
Hearing from the man currently behind NXT in WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels – we’d hear that NXT is constantly developing. This was followed by the NXT 2.0 logo changing into the classic NXT logo once again, in all it’s golden glory. With more of a white & gold aesthetic, this might well signal the end of an era for NXT 2.0.
From the moment it was announced that NXT would undergo a rebranding, fans were negative about it. Some still mourn the end of the Black & Gold era of NXT, which once went head to head with AEW Dynamite in a failing effort. This might be the attempt to bring those fans back in, keeping the NXT 2.0 stars and style, and simply changing the logo.
It seems foolish that a logo would be enough to draw fans back in, but if that is what it takes? It’s a smart move. The new logo as seen above looks incredibly clean, and with a remaining focus on rising stars, it’s going to be the best of both worlds.
A More Clear Combined Vision For WWE As A Whole Incoming
Considering there’s a rebranding going on in the UK with a move to NXT Europe – WWE are showing a retooling of their developmental practices. With Triple H running the creative practices for the main roster shows and Shawn Michaels running NXT now, there’s a much clearer combined creative vision – which might become very clear with the weeks to come.
Taking the feel of NXT Black & Gold and putting the insane talent of the NXT 2,0 locker room within it? Fans are likely to take notice of the likes of Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker and more putting on classic matches.
