Tonight is the return of two time WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T to WWE commentary. He’s joining the commentary desk for NXT, working alongside Vic Joseph – with Wade Barrett movies to Smackdown Live. Booker T has been keeping an eye on NXT leading up to this – and already knows one name is someone he will be watching very closely.
Booker T Feels Carmelo Hayes Is A Next Level Superstar
For the past year, Carmelo Hayes has been one of the best in NXT. A two time NXT North American Champion, Hayes is looking for a third reign at Halloween Havoc. Booker T is already a fan of Hayes, and is looking forward to getting an even closer look at the rising star.
On the latest episode of the “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T would have the following to say about Carmelo Hayes.
“I’m so glad that I’m gonna be close to this kid, because you talk about a next-level superstar in ‘NXT.’ He’s already in the ‘fave five;’ he checks every box.”
Potentially Being Called Up Soon
It’s possible that Booker T might only get to call a handful of matches from Hayes however. He’s right that Hayes checks every single box in what WWE looks for in a star, with a great look, in-ring skills, promo ability and loads of charisma. Hayes was on hand for the taping of WWE Main Event this week – often signalling a call up is coming.
During those tapings, Hayes would work with former NXT Cruiserweight & RAW Tag Team Champion Cedric Alexander. Hayes is expected to be called up no later than WrestleMania in 2023, possibly even sooner. There is little doubt in the ability of names like Hayes or NXT Champion Bron Breakker in terms of their WWE futures, with both being success stories of the NXT 2.0 rebranding.
