Singing sensation Ed Sheeran recalled meeting none other than the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Ed Sheeran Recalls Meeting Queen Elizabeth II
The musician came across the late monarch during the earlier parts of his career, which has always been something that he has remembered fondly. In the picture here, we can see Ed has just shaken the hand of Queen Elizabeth II.
They have massive smiles on their faces, as it is clear they are enjoying each other’s company. When looking back at the photo, this is what Ed had to say: “I was next to a really famous comedian who like cracked a joke while she was shaking my hand.
“So I’ve got this picture of her delighted to see me.” And by the looks of it, she did have a part to play in Ed’s music career. He expanded on how he initially decided to pursue playing the guitar when he came across Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee on television.
The celebration was held to mark her being the monarch for 50 years. And during that process, Ed noticed fellow musician Eric Clapton performing. Once that was done, he knew that the guitar was for him.
His following comments confirmed as much: “I knew in that instant, I was like, I want to be that. I want to have a guitar and I want to sing on stage.”
And the rest was history, as Ed became one of the very few artists who cracked the UK and America. In the process of doing so, he has also become a well-renowned songwriter.
This all came to a head when he had the opportunity to perform at the Platinum Jubilee. And Sheeran capped things off in style with the closing performance of his song, ‘Perfect’, to mark the deceased monarch reigning for 70 years.
And who knows if Ed’s career would have reached these heights had he not watched the Golden Jubilee. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
